Children’s Habilitation Residential Program

Children’s Habilitation Residential Program (CHRP) is a waiver through the Colorado Medicaid Program for children with developmental disabilities that enables them to pursue various therapeutic activities while remaining in their home and community. The services offered to them include supported community connection, respite, music therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, hippotheraphy, and the residential program. The residential program is where a parent can choose to place their child in a home where they would live with a caregiver and their family.

There are many kids out there who need full-time care and their families cannot fulfill their needs on their own. The goal of CHRP is to help these special needs children attain everything they need to lead the happiest lives they can. A caregiver has the ability to really impact a child and their families’ lives and help that child live their best life.

Colorado recently passed that there does not need to be an open CPS case in order for a child to be placed in a caregiver’s home. CHRP can help a family in numerous ways including providing health equipment, navigating healthcare, providing therapeutic activities, etc.

The residential program is extremely beneficial in that it can take extra stress off the parents of a developmentally disabled child. It provides peace of mind and an extra helping hand so that parents can step back from that caregiver role. Our experienced caregivers have the knowledge and skills to aid in the child’s care in a way that reassures the parents that their child is getting the best care possible.
